The quality of the transcription corresponds to the quality of the audio files. We prefer electronic files, as these are the easiest and fastest files to work on, and we can download and upload these files securely using our cloud-based file transferring system.
We handle all transcription projects in two stages. In the first stage, the recording is transcribed by a transcription professional. In the second stage, another professional compares the transcribed file to the audio content and checks for accuracy and completeness of the transcribed file. Compliance with written text is ensured through punctuation.
In the case any words, phrases or syllables cannot be understood, we designate these in square brackets, and the project is submitted to the approval of the client.
We also translate transcripts at the client’s request.
We deliver completed transcripts by the specified date as hardcopies or electronic copies in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), OpenDocument (.odt), Adobe Reader (.pdf) or plain text (.txt) formats.
There are many factors involved in determining the duration and pricing of a transcription project.
Pricing is determined specifically for each project and varies according to general factors, such as the content, the number of speakers, speed of speech, interruption of speech, accents, background noise and the quality of the audio recording.
- Ambient noise (e.g., rustling, line noise, interference)
- Noisy environments (e.g., streets, bars, restaurants, or other types of background noise)
- Speakers who are recorded from a distance (e.g., uncertain, distant voices)
- Speakers with a strong non-American accent (e.g., British, Australian, Indian, Hispanic, and other non-American speakers)
- Interruptions in the recording (e.g., poor phone line, gaps in the audio)
- Disturbing sounds (e.g., audible typing on keyboard, rustling, sound of wind, sounds of breathing)
- Deterioration in the voice quality (e.g., changes in volume, sound cuts)
- Speakers who cannot be understood (e.g., mumbling, changes in volume, frequent overlapping of voices)
- Echoes (e.g., reverberation, the same sound can be heard twice)
- Technical issues in the voice quality (e.g., low bit rate, poor conference line)
- Diction problems (e.g., poor pronunciation, speaking fast)
- Deep voices (e.g., hidden or blocked microphone, old recordings)
